Our History 

LHHC was founded in 1991 by attorney Robert Mussehl as the Washington State Lawyer’s Campaign for Hunger Relief. The response was overwhelming and the campaign expanded. In 1997, we focused our efforts entirely on ending child hunger and became Lawyers Helping Hungry Children. Since then, hundreds of lawyers have joined forces to support programs to prevent childhood hunger – and to make a huge difference in the lives and futures of our children.

In the last twenty years, LHHC's committed volunteers have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for programs that feed Washington children, helping to serve over one million meals. LHHC's fundraising activities, volunteers, and generous donations from members of the community make it possible for LHHC to continue our support for grantees like the Children’s Alliance, the City of Seattle's Summer Food Service Program and WithinReach.
